Compositing Restrictions

On this page we list all the restrictions of various file formats and operations. Each topic is linked into from the Usage manual for easy reference, but this page is a handy way to check for updates.

AVI file format has the following restrictions:

is not supported for direct use by MuxMan in subpictures (use a composite).
uses VFW codecs only.

MPEG file format has the following restrictions:

is not supported for direct use by MuxMan in subpictures (use a composite).
Only I pictures are decoded, therefore full motion is not possible.
Elementary stream and VOB container are fully supported
Packetized Elementary Stream (PES) will be available in Carbon 0.1 and MuxMan 1.3.1
Program Stream (PS), Transport Stream (TS), and m2ts are in development.

SGI file format has the following restrictions:

is not supported for direct use by MuxMan in subpictures (use a composite).
palettes are not supported as this format places them into separate files.
current processing reduces 16-bit channels (16-bit monochrome, 48-bit RGB, 64-bit RGBA) to 8-bit channels during decoding.

Color Processor:

The current processor is the basic model, which will remain the model used in Carbon Free. The advanced model will incorporate black/white balance and individual color channel gain and offset (contrast and brightness).

Exporting Element Still:

Currently limited to generated shapes, lines, text, and gradients.
